We have extensive experience in disaster relief...
As we are well aware, there are often emergency situations within mosquito control programs that require additional equipment and resources. In these emergency situations, additional resources are garnered from our existing contracts with priority based on the intensity of the outbreak and, most importantly, the need of the affected municipality. We are proud of the fact that in over 16 years of providing mosquito control services, we have never failed to respond to a community's needs - routine or emergency.
VDCI employs staff in more than eight (8) states throughout the United States. These individuals represent a highly trained and select group of proven mosquito control professionals that are capable of responding to mosquito-related emergencies in all areas of the United States. These scientists and mosquito control experts enable VDCI to enter an area and immediately monitor for mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases, assess the mosquito control needs, and take the appropriate steps to minimize the impact of these mosquitoes or diseases on the local human population. With 7 aircraft, over 100 ground vehicles, and mobile surveillance and control teams; VDCI can respond to all mosquito surveillance and control needs virtually anywhere in the United States within hours.
We also have extensive experience in disaster relief. In 2004, VDCI treated over 3.6 million acres in response to the hurricanes in Florida. In 2005, VDCI was called upon again and treated over 2 million acres in Mississippi and Louisiana in response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. More recently, we treated almost 300,000 acres for Ada, Bingham and Canyon Counties in Idaho after the state was at the center of the latest outbreak of West Nile virus. And again, in 2008, VDCI was called upon after Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, treating over 3 million acres.
